Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the course.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for research professionals across all disciplines — doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and industry researchers. Whether you work in the sciences, social sciences, humanities, business, engineering, or any research-intensive field, the skills and tools transfer without modification.
What is a practicum approach?
Unlike survey courses that cover topics superficially, a practicum moves directly from concept to application. Every lesson includes hands-on exercises using real research tasks — not hypothetical scenarios. You build and configure actual research tools from the first session.
How long does the course take to complete?
The course includes 50+ hours of video instruction across 8 modules, plus additional time for exercises, worksheets, and the capstone project. Most participants complete the course in 8–12 weeks, but you can work at your own pace.
Do I need prior experience with AI or coding?
No prior AI or coding experience is required. Module 1 builds the conceptual foundation you need. However, you should be comfortable using software tools and have active research projects to which you can apply the skills.
What are the 91 assets?
The assets include prompt templates, research workflow tools (like the 26 Article Organization Prompts and Elite Journal Style Evaluator), module resources, and assessment instruments. Every asset you configure during the course is yours to keep and deploy in your practice.
What is MCP integration?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) allows Gen AI to connect directly to external tools and live databases. In Module 5, you learn to integrate OpenAlex and Semantic Scholar for literature search, citation validation, and reference cross-checking at scale — replacing manual database workflows with precision automation.
How does the capstone work?
The capstone requires designing a complete Gen AI research workflow integrating all modules, producing a full manuscript or proposal evaluation, and presenting your toolkit to peers. It includes 4 hours of formal instruction plus 6–10 hours of independent work. The Certificate of Competency is awarded on successful completion.
What is the Certificate of Competency?
The Certificate of Competency in Gen AI Mastery for Research Amplification is awarded after completing all eight module competency checkpoints and the integrated capstone. It demonstrates mastery of Gen AI tools and workflows for research practice.
Can I access the course materials after completion?
Yes. All video lessons, assets, and resources remain accessible after you complete the course. The toolkit you build — including all Projects, prompts, and workflows — is yours to keep and continue developing.
Is there institutional or group enrollment?
Yes. We offer group enrollment for universities, research institutions, and organizations. Contact enrollment@orbisscientia.com for information about institutional pricing and customization options.
What if I have questions during the course?
Each module includes structured exercises and competency checkpoints to ensure you can apply the skills. Additionally, peer review components in the capstone provide feedback from fellow researchers.
How is this different from other AI courses?
Most AI courses are generic surveys or focus on coding. This course is built specifically for researchers, by researchers. Every tool, every workflow, every evaluation asset is designed for authentic research tasks — from literature review through manuscript preparation. The practicum approach ensures you leave with immediately deployable skills, not just conceptual knowledge.
